The beauty industry’s place for progress.

Through our collection programs, Pact collects hard-to-recycle packaging that municipal recycling facilities (MRFs) cannot recycle due to equipment limitations or lack of end markets. We find the highest and best use for the material we collect, prioritizing mechanically recycling into consumer packaging or durable goods over downcycling or molecular recycling. The least favorable option for packaging end-of-life is incineration, or “waste-to-energy.” It’s our last step only when there is no other use for the material.

Through membership, Pact offers a variety of exclusive programs designed to help beauty and wellness companies reduce, recycle, and drive towards circularity.

  • Best for: Retailers and brands with physical storefronts, or brands interested in sponsoring a bin on behalf of a small retailer.

About the program: Pact’s In-Store Collection Program provides a convenient way for retailers to help their customers properly discard their hard-to-recycle packaging while educating them to make informed, sustainable decisions. Members have the option to use a Pact branded bin or collaborate on a co-branded bin.

  • Best for: Members with large office(s) or shared working space.

About the program: Our In-Office Collection Program provides an easy way for brands to empower their employees and visitors to properly recycle their hard-to-recycle packaging. Members have the option to use a Pact branded bin or collaborate on a co-branded bin. All bins can be permanently featured and/or used for events.

  • Best for: DTC brands and businesses, and those with no physical storefront locations.

About the program: Our Mail-Back Collection Program a great way to offer your US & CAD customers a way to properly discard their hard-to-recycle empties if they don’t have access to a Pact bin. We offer two options:

    1. Customer-supported: customer partially supports program costs.

    2. Brand-sponsored: brands take on all program costs.

  • Best for: Brands, retailers and suppliers.

About the program: Our Obsolete Inventory Program improves on the typically unsustainable process of product and packaging destruction by taking an extra step to sort out components that can be mechanically recycled (e.g. caps, compacts, cardboard boxes). All remaining packaging that is “contaminated” or non-recyclable will be molecularly recycled or sent to waste-to-energy. Once processed, we will issue a certification of destruction for your records.

  • Best for: Members looking for expert packaging support.

About the program: Pact’s Affiliate Consultant Program provides members with expert support when taking a deep dive into their sustainable packaging goals. Whether you’re a pro or novice, our Affiliate Consultants support our Pact members at every step of their sustainable packaging journey.
